Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy Massage in Warrington
Pregnancy should be a time to enjoy but back pain, pelvic discomfort, swollen ankles and broken sleep can make it feel anything but. Our specialist pregnancy massage is here to help. Whether you are in your second trimester or days from your due date, Ema will tailor every treatment to exactly where you are and what you need.
As your bump grows, your centre of gravity shifts and your spine curves to compensate, putting increasing pressure on your hips, pelvis and weight bearing joints. At the same time, the hormone relaxin softens your ligaments, which while necessary for birth, can lead to pelvic instability, carpal tunnel syndrome and widespread aching. These are not things you just have to put up with. Massage directly addresses the root causes of pregnancy pain, not just the symptoms.
Every session begins with a short assessment so nothing is guesswork. You will leave feeling lighter, more comfortable and genuinely cared for.
We can help with:
Benefits of Pregnancy Massage
😴 Better sleep
Regular massage helps regulate hormones and reduce the discomfort that disrupts sleep during pregnancy. Higher serotonin and dopamine levels from massage contribute to deeper, more restful sleep.
💆 Reduced anxiety and stress
A 2020 systematic review and an earlier study both found pregnancy massage has a significant effect on reducing anxiety and depressive symptoms in pregnant women.
🤰 Pain relief
Relieves back pain, sciatica and pelvic girdle pain. Research shows leg and back pain decreases significantly in women who receive regular pregnancy massage, with further evidence specifically for lumbar, sciatica and pelvic girdle pain relief.
🫶 Prepares you for labour
Published research shows regular pregnancy massage can reduce the risk of premature birth and low birth weight. A further study found massage is especially effective at reducing pain in labour, particularly in the last four weeks of pregnancy.
🦶 Reduces swelling
Improved circulation helps reduce oedema in hands, feet and ankles. Clinical research and a more recent review both confirm massage reduces the stress hormones that contribute to fluid retention.
👶 Good for baby too
Your baby feels what you feel. When you relax, they relax. Research shows massage enhances blood and lymph circulation bringing greater oxygen and nutrients to mum and baby, and studies show babies of mothers who received massage had better birth outcomes and lower cortisol levels.
What to Expect
Every treatment begins with a brief orthopaedic assessment so your massage is fully tailored to your needs on the day. No two treatments are the same.
⏱ Durations
60 or 90 minutes. Choose what suits you best.
🛏 Position and comfort
You will be supported on your side with soft V-shaped pregnancy pillows. You are always well covered and your modesty maintained throughout.
👗 What to wear
Loose, comfortable clothing works best. If wearing a bra, make sure it is easily removable should you wish to remove it during the treatment.
🌿 The environment
Our clinic sits on the edge of a woodland park, with natural bird song. The perfect calming setting for your treatment. You can also choose to have music played digitally during your session.
📋 After your treatment
Your care does not end when you leave. You will receive self-massage tips, sleep advice, postural guidance and rehab exercises to take home.
🚗 Parking and facilities
We advise you to avoid a heavy meal and use the toilet before you arrive. Toilet facilities are available on site. If you have any special requirements please get in touch and we will accommodate you.
